Class 6A
The final four is set in Class 6A and we will have a crown a new champion as defending champ Manhattan went down to traditional power Derby, 23-21. The Panthers will take on top-seed Washburn Rural this week. Elsewhere, 6-seed Blue Valley traveling to take on 1-seed Gardner-Edgerton on the eastern side of the bracket. Blue Valley pulled off a 42-21 win over 2-seed Olathe North on Friday. Check out this week’s matchup and last week’s results at the link below.
Kpreps – Class 6A Rankings
Class 5A
Maize South challenged top-ranked Kapaun Mt. Carmel in the Sectional showdown, but the Crusaders held on for a 57-47 win. Kapaun now will host 2-seed Goddard-Eisenhower, which ended Maize’s run for a third straight title game with a 35-14 win. On the eastern side, four-time defending champion Mill Valley will travel to take on former Eastern Kansas League rival Blue Valley Southwest in the semifinals. The Timberwolves have a school record for victories in a season (10) and have reached the semifinal for a second straight year – seeking their first title game.
Kpreps – Class 5A Rankings
Class 4A
St. Thomas Aquinas continues to prove they are the favorite in Class 4A with a 38-7 win over Basehor-Linwood. The Saints will hit the road this week to take on Tonganoxie, which outlasted Atchison 57-50. Wamego looks to get back to a second straight title game as they blasted Wellington, 49-0, and will host Andover Central this week.

Class 3A
Top-ranked Cheney survived a great battle with Clay Center thanks to a 32-yard field goal from Grady Kuehn on the game’s final play for a 23-21 win. Clay Center had taken a 21-20 lead with :25 second remaining. Cheney now gets a second meeting with defending champion Andale. Topeka Hayden will take on district-rival Holton in the other 3A semifinal. Check out the remainder of this week’s poll at the link below.
Kpreps – Class 3A Rankings
Class 2A
Hoisington held off Southeast of Saline, 49-42, in a epic quarterfinal battle between ranked teams. Now the Cardinals will hit the road to take on unbeaten Norton in the semifinal round. Defending champions Nemaha Central will take on league and district-rival Sabetha for a second time this season. The Thunder won 28-0 in the final week of the regular season. Kpreps – Class 2A Rankings
Class 1A
We will have a new 1A champion this season as St. Marys was beaten 33-8 at home by top-ranked St. Mary’s Colgan. Olpe, which had won the prior two state titles, also fell 52-0 to Jefferson Co. North. On the west side, Conway Springs won the heavyweight matchup with Marion, 28-20. While Medicine Lodge made the long trip to Valley Heights and outscored the Mustangs, 48-30.

Class 8M-I
Defending champion Leoti-Wichita County extended its win streak to 24 consecutive games with a 66-34 win over Atwood-Rawlins County. Elsewhere in Eight-Man, Division I, Lyndon routed West Elk 58-12, and will take on district-rival Cair Paravel. Ell-Saline also held off Hoxie 44-42 in the closest game last week.
Kpreps – Class 8M-I Rankings
Class 8M-II
Axtell extended its win streak to 37 straight games with a 54-6 win over Osborne. The Eagles will now host Twin Valley League rival Frankfort in the state semifinal round. Axtell defeated Frankfort 46-0 a few weeks ago. Second-ranked Victoria rolled to a big victory over Dighton, and South Central handled previously-unbeaten Minneola, 58-12.
Kpreps – Class 8M-II Rankings
Class 6-Man
Perhaps the wildest game of the night occurred in the 6-Man quarterfinals where Tescott outlasted Waverly, 52-45 in five overtimes. The Trojans advance to take on their district rival Cunningham. Cunningham, the defending state champions, defeated Tescott 50-0 earlier this season. Elsewhere it will be a showdown between No. 1 Cheylin and No. 2 Ashland out west. Cheylin won the earlier meeting this season, 62-32.
