There are no changes in this week’s Class 6A poll. Top-ranked Washburn Rural survived a scare from Centennial League rival Junction City, but the Junior Blues prevailed with a fourth-quarter touchdown pass for a 27-20 win. Class 5A
The major upset in Class 5A this week occurred on the east side of the bracket as top-seed De Soto fell 31-28 to fellow United Kansas Conference member Topeka Seaman. The Wildcats, ranked No. 4 last week, fall out of this week’s poll making room for a new entry. Class 4A
Maybe the biggest shockwave around the state from the second round was defending 4A champion Bishop Miege being eliminated, 14-7, by St. Thomas Aquinas. The Saints put together a blocked field goal for a touchdown and got a trick play touchdown right before half to complete their scoring. In addition, unbeaten and No. 2 Louisburg was also eliminated last week with a 22-20 loss to Basehor-Linwood. Find out how this week’s poll shapes up at the link below.
Class 3A
The top five in Class 3A remained the same this week as all five advanced to the state quarterfinals. Find out this week’s quarterfinal parings at the link below.
Class 2A
We had just one change in this week’s Class 2A poll. Ellsworth edged last week’s No. 5 Garden Plain, 34-31, to move into the quarterfinal round. The Bearcats, previously ranked earlier this fall, return to this week’s poll. Find out the remainder of the 2A poll at the link below.
Class 1A
Two teams fell from the rankings and had their seasons come to an end last week. Fourth-ranked Smith Center fell at the hands of the Marion Warriors, 38-14, and No. 5 Sedgwick fell 52-40 to Valley Heights. As a result, two new teams enter the poll this week. Find out which teams are in at the link below.
Class 8M-I
Two unbeaten ranked teams went down last week and saw their season end earlier than they would have liked. Chase County went on the road and knocked out No. 3 Moundridge, 36-26, while Cair Paravel raced past then No. 4 Central Burden, 76-30.
Class 8M-II
The only change in this week’s poll has Frankfort leaping into the No. 3 spot after eliminating last week’s No. 3 Canton-Galva Eagles, 66-28. The two teams were tied at 22-22 at halftime before the Wildcats exploded for a 44-6 second half. Find out of the Regional results and the quarterfinal matchups at the link below.
Class 6-Man
There are once again no changes in this week’s Class 6-Man poll as all five teams rolled to big second-round victories. Find out each of their quarterfinal pairings at the link below.
