Class 6A
The Top 5 in the 6A poll remains the same this week as all five ranked teams picked up good victories. Wichita Northwest was impressive in rallying to beat 5A-ranked Kapaun Mt. Carmel, 42-35. Elsewhere, Manhattan blasted 5A-ranked Hays, 49-7. See results from the remainder of the ranked teams at the link below.
Class 5A
We had a pair of 6A vs. 5A ranked teams square off last week with the two 5A teams coming up with their first losses of the season. Kapaun Mt. Carmel, ranked No. 2 last week, led 6A No. 2 Wichita Northwest for most of the game before Northwest won 42-35. Meanwhile, 5A No. 3 Hays High went on the road and was beaten soundly by defending 6A champion Manhattan. Top-ranked Mill Valley survived a scare but held on to defeat Shawnee Mission Northwest, 14-7. The Jaguars face 6A No. 1 Gardner-Edgerton this week. Class 4A
In Class 4A, last week’s No. 3 Eudora dropped a 31-28 decision to 5A contender Spring Hill. Elsewhere, Bishop Miege and St. Thomas Aquinas each rolled to big victories. Find out how this week’s 4A poll comes in at the link below.
Class 3A
The Top 5 remains the same in Class 3A this week as each team was victorious again. One again, Andale cruised to run its win total to 54 straight. Topeka Hayden defeated traditional 2A power Rossville, 49-23, and Clay Center doubled-up NCKL rival Abeline, 26-13. See results from the remainder of the ranked teams at the link below.
Class 2A
The Top 5 also remains the same in Class 2A poll this week. Top-ranked Nemaha Central shut out Perry-Lecompton, 26-0, while the other four ranked teams won by 36 or more points. See results from the remainder of the ranked teams at the link below.
Class 1A
We continue to see major changes in the Class 1A poll this week as there has been the past couple of weeks. While top-ranked St. Mary’s Colgan rolled to a 35-0 win at Riverton, No. 2 Sedgwick was beaten handily by Sterling, 41-7. The ranked contest between the two sets of Chargers, No. 4 Wabaunsee and No. 5 Jefferson Co. North, went the way of the visitors from Winchester. Jefferson Co. North held off Wabaunsee, 36-34.

Class 8M-I
In 8-Man, Division I, Leoti-Wichita County was impressive defensively in a 48-14 win over Hoxie, while No. 2 Lyndon blitzed a good Frankfort team, 70-24. The major changes come at the bottom of the poll where No. 4 West Elk lost 48-28 at Central Burden, and No. 5 Little River was beaten 24-14 by Ell-Saline. Class 8M-II
Axtell passed a big Twin Valley League test with a 52-6 win over Clifton-Clyde to capture its 29th consecutive victory. Second-ranked Osborne dropped a close decision to traditional-power Hanover, 28-26. Click on the Rankings tab to find out the complete results of this week’s poll.
Class 6-Man
We have a new No. 1 team in Class 6-Man this week as the Cheylin Cougars traveled to Ashland and took down the top-ranked Blue Jays, 62-32. The Cougars forced six turnovers on the night.
