The 2022 regular season is complete and it is playoff time. The last week of the regular season resulted in some notable upsets among ranked teams and featured several marquee matchups between ranked teams to wrap up district play.

Class 6A
Manhattan proved too much for Wichita Northwest as the top-ranked Indians doubled-up the then No. 4 Grizzlies, 56-28. Lawrence Free Stats surprised Olathe North in handing the Eagles their first loss of the season, 31-19. Olathe North had already captured the No. 1 seed in the eastern half of 6A prior to entering the game. A third ranked team also fell last week as then No. 5 Gardner-Edgerton was beaten by a late Olathe South touchdown and two-point conversion, 37-36, on Thursday night. Class 5A
There is no change to this week’s Class 5A poll as all five teams were victorious last week. Bishop Carroll avenged last year’s loss to Wichita East by edging the Blue Aces, 34-30, on Friday night. De Soto jumped out to a big lead and held of Basehor-Linwood, 31-21, to secure the outright United Kansas Conference title. Check out this week’s Class 5A poll below.
Class 4A
We have a new No. 1 this week in Class 4A as top-ranked Bishop Miege dropped a 28-21 decision to defending 6A champion Blue Valley Northwest. Elsewhere, defending 4A champion St. James Academy dropped a 25-20 decision to Blue Valley North. Find out how this week’s 4A poll shapes up at the link below.
Class 3A
Top-ranked Andale fell behind Pratt 7-6 early then throttled the Greenbacks, 42-14. The Indians claimed the district championship and will host Goodland in the first round of the 3A playoffs. Girard also claimed a district title on Friday, beating Burlington, 41-18. Find out how this week’s Class 3A poll is arranged at the link below.
Class 2A
There were two ranked showdowns in Class 2A last week. Top-ranked Southeast of Saline raced out to a 46-0 halftime lead in beating then No. 5 Ellsworth, 46-7. Elsewhere, No. 2 Nemaha Central scored all of its points in the second half in beating No. 4 Sabetha, 24-7.
Class 1A
There is no change in this week’s Class 1A poll as all five teams rolled to big victories to close out the regular season. This should be a competitive classification as there are several teams that are considered capable of getting to and winning a state championship.
Class 8M-I
There are some changes in this week’s Eight-Man, Division I poll as two of the top five teams lost on Friday night. Second-ranked Burlingame suffered its first defeat of the season when district-rival Lyndon scored with :09 seconds remaining to top the Bearcats, 60-59. Elsewhere, Atwood-Rawlins County picked up an impressive 46-18 win over then No. 5 Hoxie. Find out of the first-round playoff opponents of each of the ranked teams at the link below.
Class 8M-II
In Eight-Man, Division II, No. 5 Dighton handed Minneola its first lost of the season in a 46-0 decision that determined the district championship. Thunder Ridge also picked a quality win, 42-6, over Sharon Springs-Wallace County. Find out how this week’s poll is arranged at the link below.
Class 6-Man
The top five in 6-Man remain the same again this week as only three teams played. Top-ranked Cunningham received a forfeit victory from Southern Cloud as the Warriors are unable to complete the remainder of their season. Second-ranked Ashland had an open date this week.
