Class 6A

Defending 6A champion Blue Valley Northwest lost for a second consecutive week by single digits. After last week’s 40-34 loss to Missouri power Lee’s Summit North, the Huskies (2-3) fell 27-26 to Blue Valley West on Friday. Find out how their loss impacts this week’s 6A poll below.

Class 5A

There are no changes in this week’s 5A poll as the top five teams rolled to big victories in Week 5.  Mill Valley fell behind early for a second consecutive week before blowing past Olathe South. Maize handled rival Maize South to set up this week’s showdown at Derby. Another big showdown this week is the ‘Holy War’ between Bishop Carroll and Kapaun Mt. Carmel to be played at Riverfront Stadium.

Class 4A

Top-ranked Bishop Miege quietly had one of the most impressive wins in Week 5. The Stags blanked traditional-power Blue Valley, 40-0, behind another big passing night from Mac Armstrong. Elsewhere, ranked teams St. Thomas Aquinas and Eudora both lost last on Friday. Aquinas fell 32-11 to Rockhurst (Mo.) and Eudora fell 28-27 in overtime to Louisburg.

Class 3A

Much of the chatter around the state on Friday night surrounded Andale’s 108-0 win over Nickerson. The Indians will now quickly put that game behind them as they travel to No. 2 Wichita Collegiate this week. Check out the remainder of the 3A poll at the link below.

Class 2A

In Class 2A, last week’s No. 4 ranked Norton Bluejays came up short on the road against winless Goodland. The Cowboys surprised Norton with a 28-25 win. As a result, there is some changes at the bottom of the 2A poll. Find out how this week’s poll aligns at the link below.

Class 1A

Inman remains in the top spot in Class 1A for a fourth consecutive week. The Teutons passed a big test with a 21-3 win over previously-unbeaten Hutchinson Trinity. Third-ranked Centralia picked up a quality win over Jackson Heights. The Panthers will be on the road at Garden Plain this week. See the remainder of the 1A poll at the link below.

Class 8M-I

In perhaps the deepest classification in Kansas, the top five teams all won last week. There are three huge matchups involving top-ranked teams this week. Top-ranked Leoti-Wichita County will travel to defending champion Meade who is riding a 20-game win streak. Second-ranked Hill City will take on a really talented Hoxie squad, and fifth-ranked South Sumner County has a big district showdown with unbeaten, eight-man newcomer Wichita Independent.

Class 8M-II

The top five teams in 8-Man, Division II gave up a combined 18 points last week as all five rolled to big victories. Third-ranked Victoria has a non-district challenge this week at Sharon Springs-Wallace County who is 4-1. See the remainder of the top five at the link below.

Class 6-Man

After several marquee games in the 6-man ranks to open the season, it was a rather quiet week in Week 5 as the top five all rolled to big wins. Find out who they match-up against this week at the link below.
