We have already reached the end of the regular season and the playoffs are right around the corner. Visit our Rankings page and find out how the results from Week 7 impacted our statewide rankings!
Class 6A
We have quite a bit of movement in this week’s Class 6A poll as last week’s No. 2 Blue Valley Northwest and No. 4 Olathe North each lost last week. The Blue Valley Tigers and Free State Firebirds each move up a spot in this week’s poll and we have a new entry to the top five!
Class 5A
The only loss in the 5A top five was a tough one as No. 4 Maize fell 42-41 at 6A No. 1 Derby. The Eagles scored a touchdown in the final minute and chose to go for two-point conversion and the win, but Derby intercepted the two-point pass attempt. See how Maize’s loss impact the top five this week and any other changes that have taken place.
Class 4A
We had two teams lose last week in the Class 4A poll. Bishop Miege fell to 2-5 on the season against an incredibly difficult schedule. The Stags dropped a 50-34 decision to Missouri-power Lutheran North. Meanwhile, No. 5 McPherson was beaten by Mulvane. See how those results impacted the Class 4A poll at the link below!
Class 3A
Class 3A has been the most consistent this season as several teams remain unbeaten in the classification. We finally have some change at the bottom of this week’s poll and a new entry to the top five. Find out who at the link below!
Class 2A
The ‘War on 24’ showdown between No. 1 Rossville and No. 2 Silver Lake once again lived up to its billing. Top-ranked Rossville survived 24-19 despite standout quarterback Torrey Horak not playing in the second half due to injury. The remainder of the top five rolled to big victories on Friday. Find out the new top five poll below!
Class 1A
There are once again no changes in this week’s Class 1A poll as we enter “judgement week” for the state’s smallest 11-man classification. Two major district games highlight the schedule this week with No. 2 Inman traveling to No. 3 Smith Center and No. 4 Sedgwick traveling to Conway Springs.
Class 8M-I
In Class Eight-Man, Division I, No. 4 WaKeeney-Trego dropped a 56-50 decision to an outstanding Hill City team in one of the state’s best games last week. See how the Golden Eagles’ loss impacts the 8M-I poll and if one of the other looming unbeaten teams finally cracks the top five.
Class 8M-II
In Eight-Man, Division II, second-ranked Thunder Ridge made quick work of its showdown with No. 4 Frankfort last week. The Longhorns ended the game early in the third quarter with a 60-12 win over the Wildcats. As a result, Frankfort drops out of this week’s poll and a new team enters the top five. Find out who at the link below!
Class 6-Man
Kpreps plans to rank the top three teams in 6-Man football this fall as part of the Rankings press release.
The playoffs are upon us in 6-Man football with the first-round of the bracket kicking off on Tuesday night. Congratulations to Cunningham for winning the South Division title, while Natoma took the honors in the North Division. Each are now top seeds in the 6-Man bracket.
Top-ranked Cunningham handled Pawnee Heights, 57-6, on Thursday night. The Wildcats will take on the 4th seed from the North Division, defending-champion Cheylin, on Tuesday.
Natoma remains ranked No. 2 this week after rolling to a 54-6 win over Tribune-Greeley County. The Tigers open as the No. 1 seed in the North and will host South 4-seed Pawnee Heights on Tuesday.
Northern Valley remains ranked third after Thursday’s 50-point win over defending-champion Cheylin. The Huskies are a legitimate threat to get to Dodge City. They’ll open the playoffs hosting South 3-seed Moscow on Tuesday night.
