Class 6A

The Class 6A poll is where we see the most shake up this week following then No. 2 Olathe North’s 20-6 loss to Olathe West and last week’s No. 3 Blue Valley North drop a 28-27 game to Lee’s Summit North (Mo.) in overtime. How did those losses impact the 6A Top 5? Find out below!

Class 5A

The Class 5A poll also saw change as two teams ranked last week fell on Friday night. The St. Thomas Aquinas Saints lost for a second-consecutive week in a close game. Aquinas was beaten 36-35 in OT by Blue Valley on Friday after losing 23-20 to Bishop Miege the week prior. Also on Friday, Maize struggled on offense in a 24-17 loss to defending Class 4A runner-up Arkansas City. Find out where the Top 5 in Class 5A are slotted this week.

Class 4A

There is no movement in the Class 4A poll this week despite No. 1 Bishop Miege’s third loss of the season. The Stags dropped a 24-21 decision to Missouri-power Rockhurst on Friday, but will be well-prepared come playoff time.

Class 3A

Class 3A may be the deepest classification of all as far as having several legitimate contenders lurking even outside the Top 5. The only change in this week’s poll occurs at the Nos. 4 and 5 spots as Holton and Frontenac switch places by a matter of votes. Both schools turned in strong performances last week with Holton winning at Sabetha (41-17) and Frontenac shutting out Iola (41-0).

Class 2A

Most of the Top 5 in Class 2A cruised to big victories while No. 2 Nemaha Central passed a tough district test with a 20-0 win over previously-unbeaten Atchison County. The only change in this week’s poll is at the No. 5 spot where Garden Plain gets enough votes to barely edge out district rival Kingman for the final spot.

Class 6-Man

Kpreps plans to rank the top three teams in 6-Man football this fall as part of the Rankings press release.

Ashland remains in the No. 1 spot this week after a 61-12 win over Moscow. The Blue Jays were also supposed to make up their Week 1 game against Burrton on Monday night (9/27), but Burrton forfeited.

Natoma enters the poll at No. 2 this week after defending-champion Cheylin dropped a second consecutive game. The Cougars lost to Weskan, 37-33, to open the door for the Natoma Tigers. Natoma rolled to a 67-19 win over Golden Plains behind a 291-yard, six-touchdown rushing effort from Kayden Martinez. Martinez (5-9, 220) has now rushed for 1,275 yards and 20 touchdowns in four games this season.

Cunningham holds on to the No. 3 spot after a 64-13 win over Burrton last week. The Wildcats will host No. 1 Ashland this week.
