Kpreps.com is excited to announce a partnership with Dynamic Athletics to provide exclusive content during the 2012 season and beyond.

Dynamic Athletics is the only company in the world capable of measuring human kinetics (forces) without the use of force plates, shoe inserts or any contact-based equipment.  The Overland Park based company is able to provide objective biomechanical analysis of athletes aimed at improving performance, preventing injury, and improving rehabilitation.

“From St. Francis to Baxter Springs, Atchison to Elkhart, Kpreps.com is the premiere resource for Kansas High School Football coverage, Dynamic Athletics’ CEO Ryan Comeau said. “Dynamic Athletics is proud to join forces with Kpreps.com, providing weekly resources for players & coaches on maintaining healthy training habits across our State.“

Each Sunday during the 2012 season, Dynamic Athletics High Performance Director Chris Dellasega and Dr. Tom Eberline will provide Kpreps readers with a look into improving athletic performance, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.

Dellasega’s primary role at Dynamic Athletics is increasing athletic performance by developing and implementing training protocols for individual athletes based on data collected by Dynamic Athletics’ motion capture system.  Chris holds a Master’s of Science degree from The University of Kansas and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.  Dellasega has trained local high school athletes, competitive mixed martial artists, NFL players, and worked with football and basketball squads at the KU.

Dr. Eberline serves as the Active Release Techniques (ART) Chiropractor at Dynamic Athletics. His role is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. Using the Dynamic Athletics motion capture system, Dr. Eberline is able to more accurately identify the cause of pain instead of chasing each individual symptom. Dr. Eberline earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Logan College of Chiropractic in Saint Louis, MO. He also obtained his Masters of Sports Science and Rehabilitation and Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from the same institution. He received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Kansas. He has worked with athletes at every level of competition including high school, professional basketball, NFL, PGA and Olympic.

Dynamic Athletics’ technology allows an athlete’s exact performance level to be examined based on their entire chain of kinematic and kinetic data.  The result is a specific training regimen based on the individual athlete’s range of motion or tendencies instead of doing a more standardized workout approach.

In addition, by understanding the forces on each specific joint allows trainers to specifically strengthen the areas of the athlete’s body that see the most stress, rather than using a one size fits all approach to training which may or may not have an impact on high stress areas.

Over time, Dynamic Athletics then has the ability to compare your current motion to your motions from previous data collections and can determine how your performance changes over time.  This allows an athlete to address potential injuries before they occur.

Regardless of the injury, Dynamic Athletics’ process is able to provide an objective look and assign an accurate percentage of how far along an athlete is in the rehabilitation process.

“Dynamic Athletics develops advanced technologies to efficiently deliver the most meaningful movement data on athletes, soldiers & patients around the world,” Comeau said. “We look forward to being a trusted resource for anyone who wants to train smarter, prevent injury or improve rehab across Kansas.”

Football Applications:

Scouting: Objectively understand the precise difference in performance capabilities between players and track them over time.

Performance: Craft training to specifically address the limitations and compensations of individual players. Create team training that addresses global deficiencies of the team.

Injury Prevention: "Prehab" = proactively addressing individual limitations or compensations with corrective exercise prior to the injury. Identifying "high stress" or "high force" areas of the body during sport-specific movements will allow strength and conditioning to re-enforce directed training protocols and coaching to focus on proper on-field mechanics.

Rehab: Full-body data is used as an exact "baseline" during recovery of an orthopedic injury, providing an Objective Patient Outcome. New reports may be retro-actively produced from the previous, healthy data sets for the body part which sustained the new injury. Dynamic Athletics calls this the Time Capsule.

Concussion: In addition to neuro-pathway or ImPACT testing, deliver a precise baseline for balance, motor control and proprioception. These metrics provide health care professionals a complete understanding of how the brain injury affects the athlete's ability to create & sustain movement throughout the recovery process.
