With distribution starting this week, Kansas Pregame has decided to use Kpreps.com for an exclusive sneak peek at the seventh annual high school and college preview issue's front cover. Seen above, the cover has a distinctively eastern Kansas feel as only two players from teams west of I-135/US 81 were featured as part of the special photo shoot at Salina's Kenwood Park earlier this summer.
Western Kansas football fans need not assemble an angry mob though, as the inside cover features the first ever fold-out special section that includes an exclusive photo shoot focused on several players and coaches from eight of the state's top western Kansas programs. The teams are profiled in the magazine's "How the West Was Won!" features which open this year's high school section.
"The 2012 issue of Kansas Pregame is going to be something every football fan in Kansas is going to want to get their hands on," said long-time publisher John Baetz. "With over 300 high school and college previews and the first ever fold-out inside cover feature I think we've again provided something the players, coaches, and fans of Kansas high school and college football can be proud of. Check back with Kpreps.com for a complete distribution list later this week and follow Kansas Pregame on Facebook and Twitter for updates on distribution."
The publication will again be provided free thanks to the support of hundreds of advertisers across Kansas. Perhaps most notable, Baetz says, is the continued relationship with Pizza Hut.
"The magazine will be available at nearly 100 different Pizza Huts in Kansas and the pizza powerhouse has been a valued partner of Kansas Pregame since we got our start over seven years ago," Baetz said. "It's pretty cool because I grew up on Pizza Hut in rural Kansas and still enjoy their menu of pizza, pasta, wings, salad and breadsticks regularly, though I do try to make the occasional salad a more regular part of my diet now than I did as a kid."
Baetz says another noteworthy sponsor is the Hays Convention and Visitors Bureau, who, combined with Horizon Appliance, Gone Logo, Nex-Tech and Nex-Tech Wireless in Hays, and Farm Implement & Supply in Plainville, made the "How the West Was Won!" special section possible.
"The Hays Convention and Visitors Bureau was integral in helping us develop the 'How the West Was Won!' feature and staging the photo shoot at historic Fort Hays," Baetz said. "Along with our long-term partners Horizon Appliance, Gone Logo, Nex-Tech, Nex-Tech Wireless, and Farm Implement & Supply, and a number of smaller advertisers from each of the communities featured in the section, the Hays Convention and Visitors Bureau put in overtime to help us pull off this unique section. Hays is kind of the jewel of western Kansas and the growth of Fort Hays and the expansion of the city's regional recreation facilities has made it a sports destination."
Baetz says it's not just major sponsors like Crop Production Services, the Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, and the state's Farm Credit Associations that make the magazine a reality though, it's the hundreds of small businesses and organizations across Kansas that advertise and provide the magazine free in their community.
"Our publication is not possible without advertising, and we can't emphasize enough how much we appreciate our sponsors. Sure they get the benefit of delivering their message to thousands of Kansas football fans, but they also understand how important it is to provide this product free in their respective regions of Kansas."
Kansas Pregame distribution will begin Aug. 1 and continue through Aug. 10. Check back with Kpreps.com for updates on the magazine and follow Kansas Pregame and Kpreps.com on Facebook and Twitter to see distribution updates.
