After week two, the biggest shuffle in our Kpreps Top 5 occurred in 8 Man-II where Thunder Ridge jumps up two spots to #2 after beating former second-ranked Hanover, 26-6. Hanover falls two spots to #4, while Otis-Bison moves up to third by virtue of a 50-14 win over Central Plains. The Cougars have another test this week as they take on the point-happy Chase Kats.
The 8 Man-I poll remain unchanged after all five teams posted double-digit wins.
Plainville enters the 2-1A rankings at #5 after another impressive Mid-Continent League win. The Cardinals dispatched of Ellis, 42-6 and set up a showdown with unbeaten Norton this week.
The Olpe Eagles fell out of the 2-1A top five with a 35-13 home loss to Caney Valley.
In Class 3A, Scott City and Silver Lake flipped spots after the Beavers rolled to a 40-point victory over Holcomb. Silver Lake overcame a slow start and had to wait until Saturday to finish off St. Marys. With the win, Eagle coach C.J. Hamilton pulled to within one win of the state’s all-time leader Ed Buller who won 335 in his career.  Hamilton could tie the record this week as Silver Lake hosts Atchison.
The Class 4A game of the week turned into a rout as #5 Paola shutout Frontier League rival De Soto 36-0. The Panthers get another unbeaten this week when then host the Pittsburg Purple Dragons.
Top-ranked Blue Valley, second-ranked Hutchinson, and third-ranked McPherson all faced a bit of a scare for at least a half in week two. Blue Valley led just 7-0 before pulling away from Blue Valley Southwest. Hutchinson was tied at halftime with Derby, and McPherson held on for a 41-39 road win over Salina South
New to the 5A rankings is Bishop Miege who scored late to overtake Blue Valley Northwest, 27-24. Tim Grunhard’s Stags face a stiff test this week when they travel to Gardner-Edgerton to take on the Trailblazers. The Blazers got 345 yards and five touchdowns from sophomore back Traevohn Wrench in a 54-20 win over Blue Valley North.
Finally Class 6A’s third-ranked Dodge City Red Demons were shut down 14-7 at home by Wichita Northwest. The Grizzlies enter the 6A poll this week at #5, while Dodge City fell out. Manhattan and Olathe East both moved up one spot to #3 and #4, respectively.
