Welcome to the third full season of Kansas high school football coverage at Kpreps.com!
We are excited for the 2011 season to kickoff and wanted to take this opportunity to highlight some of our plans for this fall in hopes of improving our coverage throughout the state.
One of our primary goals for this season is to improve our interaction with you, our readers. We encourage you to “Like” our Kpreps page on Facebook and follow us on Twitter (@Kpreps). We plan to use both of these mediums to update scores, highlight new features, and share other information on high school football in Kansas, and we hope you will do the same.
We will be joined by our print partner, Kansas Pregame Football Magazine, again this season. Publisher John Baetz will join us in creating more of the state's most complete coverage of high school football and Kpreps will again collaborate on providing a statewide high school football radio show, the Kansas Pregame Show powered by Kpreps.com. Be sure to click the radio button on Kpreps.com to find a complete list of stations and a player featuring past shows.
Kansas Pregame is also joining the age of social media and we encourage you to Like the new Kansas Pregame page on Facebook or follow them on Twitter (@KansasPregame).
We also encourage you to sign up for the Kpreps periodic e-newsletter which will highlight upcoming content along with other news and information. You can sign up for the newsletter on the main page of Kpreps.com.
Finally, we want to emphasize your opinions and expertise this fall. We will be featuring a number of polls that will allow you to voice your opinion and impact our coverage; such as state rankings and selecting the state’s Game of the Week which we will preview each Friday. This season, readers also will have the ability to post comments at the bottom of each feature article.
We are thrilled for the return of the Mpix Friday Night Photo Contest back for the 2011 season. Last season, we asked for our readers to submit their photos from Friday night action, and you responded with approximately 600 entries. This season, we will again name a weekly winner as well as a grand prize winner at the end of the season so please continue to send in all of your great photos. Last year’s grand prize photo was taken by Everett Royer, of Otis, KS.
Also returning to our coverage this season will be daily features including Kpreps Rankings (Mondays), Around the Classes, The Pick List and Picks To Click, and the state’s Game of the Week Preview.
In the Around the Classes feature, we recap a handful of games from each class involving teams outside of our rankings. Around the Classes will be featured on Tuesdays again this fall.
Wednesdays we will return our state-wide feature story about a specific player, team or other story that catches our attention. We welcome suggestions for future feature stories, so feel free to contact us with your story idea.
The Pick List and our player Picks to Click will return on Thursday’s this fall. The Pick List features a preview of six key games from across the state along with our predictions. In the Picks to Click, we feature six players who we believe are primed for big games on Friday night.
On Fridays, we will preview the state Game of the Week as selected by you the readers via a voting poll on Kpreps.com earlier in the week.
Check back in the next couple of weeks for stories previewing the 2011 season leading up to the release of our preseason rankings on Monday, Aug. 29. In the meantime, pick up a copy Kansas Pregame Magazine to get caught up on all you need to know before kickoff on Sept. 1. Kansas Pregame is the state’s premier football magazine and is available for free at various advertisers throughout the state. For a complete list of distribution locations click on the Kansas Pregame tab at on our site.
