Bishop Carroll returns to the 5A rankings with a 42-13 win over Liberal. The Eagles began the year ranked in Class 5A before an opening week loss to now Class 6A’s top-ranked Wichita Heights Falcons, 21-0.
St. Thomas Aquinas held the fifth spot in the Kpreps 5A poll last week, but the Saints fell to fourth-ranked Blue Valley – Stilwell, 38-20.
The Class 3A poll saw the most movement as Garden Plain edged Hutchinson Trinity 14-7 in a game pitting ranked teams. Trinity falls two spots to #5, while Garden Plain moves up to #4.
Scott City moves up to #2 in the poll after a 55-6 blowout win over Southwestern Heights. Silver Lake is ranked third by virtue of a 34-28 win over arch-rival Rossville.
In Class 2-1A, the game of the week saw the Olpe Eagles turn Oswego away four times in the red zone without points to claim at 14-6 road win. Oswego outgained Olpe 370 to 220 in total offense in the game, but Olpe’s Tanner Burenheide returned a kickoff 80-yards for the deciding score.
The defending 2-1A champion Centralia Panthers move up one spot to #3 this week, while Olpe checks in at #4. Oswego remains ranked fifth after consecutive losses to #1 Colgan and #4 Olpe.
In 8 Man Division I, key injuries to four Lebo players resulted in their showdown with #2 Madison becoming a 46-0 rout. As a result, Lebo falls out of the top five and Osborne and Hill City are each up one spot to third and fourth respectively.
Lakeside-Downs enters the poll at #5 by virtue of beating Mankato-Rock Hills 48-22 for their sixth straight win.
No changes took place in the rankings for Class 6A, Class 4A, and 8 Man Division II as all top five teams won. The only scares involving those classes occurred in 6A where #2 Manhattan slipped by a good Topeka High team 42-36, and #3 Olathe East escaped an upset bid from Blue Valley West, 28-24.
