We are down to the state semifinals in all classifications.

Class 6A

The final four is set in Class 6A and while the top two teams on the west side advanced as expected, it will be  4-seed Gardner-Edgerton taking on 6-seed Olathe Northwest on the eastern side of the bracket. Check out this week’s matchup and last week’s results at the link below.

Class 5A

Hutchinson put a scare into top-ranked Maize in the Sectional showdown but the top-ranked Eagles prevailed, 21-14. Maize now gets a showdown with 2-seed Hays High. On the eastern side, three-time defending champion Mill Valley will host their former Eastern Kansas League rival Blue Valley Southwest in the semifinals. The Timberwolves have matched a school record for victories in a season (6) and have reached their first semifinal.

Class 4A

We will have a new champion in Class 4A as two-time defending titlist St. James Academy fell to St. Thomas Aquinas, 28-13 last week. Aquinas will now travel to Bishop Miege in this week’s semifinal. The Saints beat Miege 29-26 during the regular season. Find out this week’s matchup and last week’s results at the link below.

Class 3A

Top-ranked Andale continues to flex its muscles after shutting down Rock Creek’s explosive passing offense in a 48-0 win. The Indians forced seven Mustang turnovers in the game and will now take on upstart Clay Center in the semifinals. Check out the remainder of this week’s poll at the link below.

Class 2A

As expected, the top four teams posted double-digit victories in advancing to the semifinal round. We will have a rematch of a district contest in the East as Nemaha Central will host Sabetha. The Thunder defeated the Blue Jays, 24-7, thanks to a big second-half earlier this season. Find out the remainder of the 2A poll at the link below.

Class 1A

We will have a new 1A champion this season for the first time in three years. Two-time champ Olpe fell just short at top-ranked Centralia in a low-scoring, 8-7 decision. Centralia will now travel to preseason No. 1 St. Marys in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Conway Springs will host Inman in a rematch of district play where the Cardinals won 35-14.

Class 8M-I

We will also have a new champion in Eight-Man, Division I as Meade was outscored 68-50 at home to by Hill City. It was the most points Meade has given up in a game since 1997. Meade had defeated Hill City, 48-34, in last year’s state semifinal round.

Class 8M-II

Thunder Ridge eliminated then No. 3 Victoria 62-46 to advance to a semifinal showdown with Dighton. Elsewhere, the game everyone has been waiting for is finally here. Defending champion and No. 1 Axtell will host No. 2 Canton-Galva this week for a chance to get to Newton.  Find out of the Regional results and the quarterfinal matchups at the link below.

Class 6-Man

We are one step closer in crowning the first-ever KSHSAA 6-Man champion. The two remaining unbeaten teams will square off in this week’s quarterfinal as No. 1 Cunningham will host No. 4 Waverly. The other semifinal features No. 2 Ashland hosting No. 3 Cheylin in a rematch from the regular season where Ashland won, 50-28.
