Class 6A

In Class 6A, two of the top five teams in last week’s poll had their season end with second-round losses. Second-ranked Blue Valley lost 35-28 to Blue Valley West, and No. 5 Washburn Rural was defeated soundly by Lawrence Free State, 42-10.  See the changes to this week’s poll at the link below.

Class 5A

Only one team in last week’s top five in 5A didn’t survive the second round. Bishop Carroll rallied to defeat Hutchinson in overtime in the first round, but the Golden Eagles couldn’t overcome Avery Johnson and Maize in the second round. Fourth-ranked Maize defeated Carroll, 28-21. The remainder of the 5A ranked teams rolled to second-round victories. See which new team joins the poll this week at the link below.

Class 4A

In Class 4A, defending-champion St. James Academy went on the road and knocked out top-ranked Basehor-Linwood, 35-7. The Thunder forced five Bobcat turnovers and took control early with a 21-0 lead. Elsewhere, No. 5 Bishop Miege went on the road and defeated a solid Chanute team, 33-21. See how these results shape this week’s poll at the link below.

Class 3A

The big second-round showdown in Class 3A featured No. 2 Cheney and No. 5 Wichita Collegiate. Cheney eliminated the Spartans, 21-3, and improved to 10-0 for the first time in school history. The Cardinals get another huge challenge this week against No. 3 Southeast of Saline. See the rest of the Class 3A poll below.

Class 2A

In Class 2A, top-ranked Rossville rallied from an early deficit to eliminate Nemaha Central in a battle of the past two 2A state champions. Second-ranked Silver Lake outscored St. Marys 51-36, and Thomas More Prep-Marian went on the road and knocked out No. 4 Hoisington, 36-27. See how these results impact this week’s top five below.

Class 1A

Wabaunsee’s terrific season came to an end with a 44-33 loss to Lyndon in the second round. The fifth-ranked Chargers had moved into the poll two weeks ago after a win over then No. 5 Centralia. How did they rest of the 1A ranked teams perform last week? Find out at the link below.

Class 8M-I

All five ranked teams were victorious in Eight-Man, Division I poll and will set up some potential great matchups in the quarterfinals this week. No matchup looms larger than top-ranked Little River against No. 2 Madison this week. Find out the results and next opponents for this week’s rankings at the link below.

Class 8M-II

There will be a new state champion in Eight-Man, Division II as Axtell pulled away from Hanover to win 52-26. Elsewhere, No. 5 South Barber held off Norwich 20-12, avenging a two-point loss to the Eagles earlier this season. See the remainder of the 8M-II poll at the link below.
