Class 4A:

District 1 – Bishop Ward had lost 33 consecutive games entering district play just two weeks ago.  The Cyclones responded with wins over KC Sumner Academy and Atchison to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2008.  Ward will host KC Piper this week with the winner claiming the District 1 championship and the loser advancing as the runner-up.

KC Piper @ Bishop Ward;  Atchison @ KC Sumner

District 2 – Tonganoxie enters their home match-up with Basehor-Linwood unbeaten in district play and thus can clinch the title with a win.  If Basehor-Linwood beats the Chieftains by two or more points, the Bobcats will clinch the district title. That two-point win would give Basehor the district points lead over the best possible points total for Jefferson West, which holds the tie-breaker against Basehor-Linwood by virtue of a 36-35 victory in Week 7. Perry-Lecompton has already been eliminated. The Kaws can only hope for a three-way tie at 1-2 with Basehor-Linwood and Jefferson West, but Perry-Lecompton can only finish at -21 in the district points system, while Basehor-Linwood can finish no worse than -1.

                Basehor-Linwood @ Tonganoxie, Jefferson West @ Perry-Lecompton

District 3 – Last season Spring Hill entered district play at 2-4 and won all three district games to claim the title.  This year, the Broncos entered Week 7 at 1-5 and have again started district play 2-0. They host Bonner Springs this week with a chance to repeat as district champions with a win. St. James Academy travels to De Soto in the other meeting as the Thunder try and reach the playoffs for the first time in school history.  The district points race is extremely close in this district as a number of possible scenarios still remain for different teams to qualify.

Bonner Springs @ Spring Hill, St. James Academy @ De Soto

District 4 – Third-ranked Baldwin has clinched a playoff spot and can win the title by beating Eudora. The Cardinals are banged up this season and their playoff hopes may have taken a hit with a loss to Ottawa last week. Ottawa travels to Santa Fe Trail in the other meeting with hopes of reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2003. Santa Fe Trail must beat Ottawa by more than 11 points and hope for a Eudora loss to Baldwin in order to qualify.

Eudora @ Baldwin, Ottawa @ Santa Fe Trail

District 5 – Paola will travel to Frontier League rival Louisburg to decide the district title in what seems to be an annual event.  The Panthers and Wildcats will be broken up into different districts next season.  Paola has been to the playoffs nine straight seasons, while Louisburg has extended its streak to 12 consecutive seasons.

Paola @ Louisburg, Prairie View @ Osawatomie

District 6 – Fort Scott will travel to Chanute to decide the district championship game and both playoff spots. Fort Scott beat Chanute last season 24-18.

Fort Scott @ Chanute, Anderson Co. @ Iola

District 7 – Independence played a difficult regular season schedule and it paid off in a district championship with wins over Girard and Frontenac.  The two CNC League foes will meet in Girard to determine which one qualifies for the playoffs as the runner-up.

Independence @ Parsons, Frontenac @ Girard

District 8 – Coffeyville is the district champion having pasted previously unbeaten Columbus 68-20 last week.  The Golden Tornado host Baxter Springs this week, while the Labette County and Columbus winner will advance to the playoffs as the district runner-up.

Baxter @ Coffeyville, Labette Co. @ Columbus

District 9 – Defending champion Holton has won District 9 with wins over Wamego and Topeka Hayden.  The Red Raiders and Hayden Wildcats will meet this week in Wamego with the winner advancing as the district runner-up.

Royal Valley @ Holton, Topeka Hayden @ Wamego

District 10 – Maize South clinched the district championship with a hard-fought 14-6 win over Hesston last week.  Hesston will travel to El Dorado with the winner claiming the second playoff spot.

Towanda Circle @ Maize South, Hesston @ El Dorado

District 11 – While Wichita Collegiate is in good shape with a 2-0 mark, all four teams are still eligible for playoff spots.  Wichita Trinity can still clinch the school’s first ever playoff appearance by beating Rose Hill and hoping for an Augusta loss.

Wichita Collegiate @ Augusta; Rose Hill @ Wichita Trinity

District 12 – This is easy, all four teams are 1-1 so the winners of each game will make the playoffs, and those two teams will be compared head-to-head.  Whichever of the two winners beat the other head-to-head will be the district champion, and the other will qualify as the runner-up.  Wellington holds the head-to-head tie breaker over Clearwater, while Mulvane holds the advantage over Wellington. Clearwater beat Winfield head-to-head and Winfield beat Mulvane.

Clearwater @ Mulvane; Wellington @ Winfield

District 13 – Andale can clinch the district title with a win over Cheney.  The Indians beat Buhler 28-21 in Week 7. Nickerson is already eliminated as even with a big win over Buhler coupled with a Cheney loss, the Panthers could not win the district tie-breaker for second place.

Cheney @ Andale; Buhler @ Nickerson

District 14 – Ulysses can clinch the district title with a win at Hugoton. Larned can clinch a playoff spot for the first time since 1985 with a win at Pratt coupled with a Ulysses win. If Hugoton and Larned both win, the three-way tie will be broken by the district points system.

Ulysses @ Hugoton, Larned @ Pratt

District 15 – McPherson is the District 15 champion after a wild 58-46 win at Abilene a week ago.  Abilene can clinch the runner-up spot by winning at (7-1) Smoky Valley this week. If the Vikings win, they are in the playoffs for the first time since 2007.

Chapman @ McPherson, Smoky Valley @ Abilene

District 16 – Goodland slipped by Clay Center (8-7) and shutout Concordia (43-0) in clinching the District 16 title.  Clay Center will travel to Concordia this week with the winner making the playoffs as the district runner-up.

Goodland @ Colby, Clay Center @ Concordia

Class 3A:

District 1 – Sabetha will travel to Hiawatha with the winner being crowned as District 1 champion and the loser will be playoff-bound as the runner-up. Riverside has started 6-0 in each of the past two seasons but has missed the playoffs both times.

Sabetha @ Hiawatha, Riverside @ Horton

District 2 – Nemaha Valley is the district champion by virtue of close wins over Riley County (20-12) and Rock Creek (19-18).  The runner-up spot will be claimed by the winner of the Rock Creek at Riley  County match-up.

Marysville @ Nemaha Valley, Rock Creek @ Riley County

District 3 – Silver Lake has clinched a playoff spot because even with a 21-point loss to Maur Hill and a three-way tie for first in the standings, the Eagles would be among the top two teams in district points.  Atchison County clinches a playoff spot with a win, while Maur Hill must upset Silver Lake and hope for a Pleasant Ridge win over ACCHS to get in.  Pleasant Ridge could still clinch a playoff spot by beating Atchison County by 11 or more points coupled with a Silver Lake win over Maur Hill.

Maur Hill @ Silver Lake; Atchison County @ Pleasant Ridge

District 4 – Rossville and St. Marys have already qualified for the two playoff spots.  The Bulldogs and Bears will meet in St. Marys to decide the district championship on Thursday night.

Rossville @ St. Marys, Council Grove @ Mission Valley

District 5 – Wellsville can clinch the District 5 title with a win over West Franklin. Central Heights can clinch a playoff spot with a win at Osage City. Osage City is eliminated because even with a 21-point win over the Vikings coupled with a West Franklin loss, the Indians could not finish with the most district points among the three teams tied for second place.

Central Heights @ Osage City; West Franklin @ Wellsville

District 6 – Humboldt is the District 6 champion by virtue of wins over Eureka and Fredonia.  The Cubs play Burlington this week, while the winner of the Fredonia at Eureka match-up will qualify as the runner-up.

Burlington @ Humboldt, Fredonia @ Eureka

District 7 – Caney Valley is the district champion and will take on winless Erie this week.  Cherryvale will travel to Neodesha with the winner claiming the runner-up spot.

Caney Valley @ Erie, Cherryvale @ Neodesha

District 8 – Galena is the District 8 champion after beating St. Mary’s Colgan and Southeast-Cherokee.  The Bulldogs host a banged-up Riverton team this week, while Colgan hosts Southeast with the winner advancing to the playoffs as the runner-up.

                Riverton @ Galena, SE-Cherokee @ St. Mary’s Colgan

District 9 – Douglass will travel to Conway Springs for the District 9 championship game.  The winner goes as the district champions, while the loser is the runner-up.

Douglass @ Conway Springs, Chaparral @ Belle Plaine

District 10 – Sedgwick has a big lead in the points tie-breaker and thus has clinched a playoff spot even in the event of a three-way tie for first. The Cardinals can wrap up the district title with a win over Whitewater-Remington. Wichita Independent can clinch a playoff spot with a win by at least six points over Leon-Bluestem . Bluestem needs to beat Remington by at least 14 points and have Independent lose to Sedgwick to get in.

                Whitewater-Remington @ Sedgwick; Wichita Independent @ Leon-Bluestem

District 11 – Kingman is trying to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2005. The Eagles can win the district championship with a win at Garden Plain. A Garden Plain loss and a win by Hutchinson Trinity over Haven would keep the Owls out of the playoffs for the first time since 1998. Haven can still get in, but the Wildcats need to beat Hutch Trinity by at least 18 points and hope for a Kingman win over Garden Plain by at least 18 points.

Kingman @ Garden Plain; Haven @ Hutchinson Trinity

District 12 – Marion has clinched its second consecutive playoff berth. Even a 21-point loss at home to Moundridge and a Halstead win would keep the Warriors in the top three in district points. Halstead can clinch a playoff spot with a six-point win over Hillsboro. Hillsboro can get into the playoffs by beating Halstead by at least 13 points coupled with a Marion victory over Moundridge.

Moundridge @ Marion; Halstead @ Hillsboro

District 13 – Sacred Heart wraps up the district title with a win over Lyons. Southeast of Saline clinches a playoff spot with a win at Ellsworth. Lyons needs to upset Sacred Heart and have Ellsworth beat Southeast of Saline.  Ellsworth can still get in with at least a 16-point win over Southeast of Saline and a Lyons loss.

Sacred Heart @ Lyons; Southeast of Saline @ Ellsworth

District 14 – Beloit has clinched the District 14 title by beating Phillipsburg and Norton in consecutive weeks. The Panthers and Bluejays will meet in Norton this week with the winner advancing to the playoffs as the district runner-up.

Minneapolis @ Beloit, Phillipsburg @ Norton

District 15 – Defending champion Scott City is back in the 3A playoff field after claiming the District 15 title.  Hoisington will host Thomas More Prep with the winner claiming the second playoff spot as the district runner-up.

Russell @ Scott City, Thomas More Prep @ Hoisington

District 16 – Holcomb, Lakin, and Cimarron are still vying for playoff spots in District 16.  The Holcomb Longhorns can clinch the district title with a win at Cimarron. Lakin clinches a playoff spot with at least a 15-point win over Southwestern Heights. Cimarron must beat Holcomb by at least 18 points to ensure they get in, or win and hope for a Lakin loss. Southwestern Heights has been eliminated as even with a 21-point win over the Broncs coupled with a Cimarron loss, the Mustangs could not finish with the most district points among the three teams tied for second place.

Holcomb @ Cimarron; Lakin @ Southwestern Heights

Class 2-1A:

District 1 – Centralia has clinched a playoff spot because even a 21-point at Jackson Heights this week would keep the Panthers in the top two in district points. The only way for Jackson Heights to make the postseason is to beat Centralia since the Cobras lost to Troy 18-12 in overtime in Week 5.

Centralia @ Jackson Heights, Troy @ Doniphan West, Oskaloosa @ Valley Heights (ND)

District 2 – McLouth has qualified for the playoffs for a second straight season.  The Bulldogs are District 2 champions by virtue of their 38-0 win over Oskaloosa.  The Bears finished district play 3-1 and are the runners-up.  It’s Oskaloosa’s first playoff appearance since 2010.

McLouth @ Immaculata, Valley Falls @ Jefferson Co. North, Oskaloosa @ Valley Heights (ND)

District 3 – Despite winning just 12 total games over the past five season, the Wabaunsee Chargers are District 3 champions and will make their fourth playoff appearance during that span. The Chargers edged district runner-up Northern Heights 21-18 back in Week 7 which proved to be the district title game. Even should Wabaunsee lose to Chase County this week, they would fall into a first-place tie with Northern Heights but hold the head-to-head tie breaker. The Wildcats will step outside of district play to take on Lyndon before facing the Tigers again a week later in the first round of the playoffs.

Chase County @ Wabaunsee, Onaga @ Herington, Northern Heights @ Lyndon (ND)

District 4 – Lyndon is the District 4 champion after going 4-0 including a 27-25 win over district runner-up Olpe. The Tigers will finish the regular season against Flint Hills League rival Northern Heights in a non-district game, then face the Wildcats the again following week in the first round of the 2-1A playoffs. Olpe will travel to District 3 champion Wabaunsee to open the 2-1A playoffs.

                Oswego @ Northeast-Arma, Jayhawk-Linn @ Olpe, Northern Heights @ Lyndon (ND)

District 5 – District 5 is already decided as No. 2 La Crosse scored 30 consecutive points to beat Sterling 30-14 in Week 7. The Leopards are the district champions, while Sterling will advance as the runner-up. The Black Bears edged Inman 26-20 in overtime last week to qualify for the second playoff spot.

Medicine Lodge @ La Crosse, Ellinwood @ Inman, Sterling @ Stanton County (ND)

District 6 – Smith Center is the district champion after a 4-0 start to district play.  The Redmen hold the head-to-head win over Plainville; the only team that could tie them in the standings. Plainville travels to Washington County with the runner-up spot on the line. Washington County must beat Plainville by at least 11 points or win and hope for a Bennington upset of Ell-Saline to claim the runner-up spot. Ell-Saline is eliminated because even with a 21-point win over Bennington, the Cardinals would come up short on the points system if a three-way tie ensues with Plainville and Washington County.

Smith Center @ Republic Co., Ell-Saline @ Bennington, Plainville @ Washington County

District 7 – Oakley clinches the district championship with a win at Ellis. Should the Railroaders win by 21 points, they could knock Oakley out of the playoffs if Oberlin-Decatur County beats Leoti-Wichita County. If Oberlin wins and Ellis only beats Oakley by 20, the Plainsmen will go to the playoffs and Ellis would stay home despite the Week 9 win.

Oberlin-Decatur Co. @ Leoti-Wichita Co., Oakley @ Ellis, St. Francis (Open)

District 8 – Meade clinched the District 8 championship by handing Elkhart its first loss of the season last week.  Elkhart still qualifies as the district runner-up by virtue of the Wildcats’ wins over Stanton County and Sublette. It will be Elkhart’s first playoff appearance since 2009.

Sublette @ Meade, Elkhart @ Syracuse, Sterling @ Stanton County (ND)
