Conway Springs quarterback Tanner Wood broke a state record in rushing for 659 yards and nine touchdowns in the Cardinals 84-56 win over Chaparral.
Wood had more than 330 yards rushing at halftime and scored six first-half touchdowns. Conway Springs and Chaparral went into halftime tied at 35.
Chaparral threw a long touchdown pass to knot the game at 48 in the third quarter before Conway Springs began to get stops.
Alec Stanley added three second-half touchdowns for the Cardinals who scored 36 straight points to lead 84-48 before the Roadrunners added a late score.
Wood broke the long-standing state record of 488 rushing yards in a game set by former Claflin star Kipp Connell.

The Kpreps Game of the Week as voted on by the fans featured a pair of unbeaten teams in 8-Man, Division-I as top-ranked Ness City took on unbeaten Atwood-Rawlins County.
Ness City showed they are deserving of that No. 1 ranking with a 48-0 pasting of the Buffaloes.
The Eagles took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter thanks to two interception returns for touchdowns. Dalton Gantz added a long touchdown run and the Eagle defense turned in a third score before halftime as Ness City led 42-0.
The Eagles ended the game just after halftime to claim the District 8 championship.
Atwood-Rawlins County will travel to Hoxie in Week 9 with the second playoff spot on the line.

Salina South made a statement in Class 5A by traveling to Hays and defeating the fourth-ranked Indians 35-6.
The second-ranked Cougars responded to an early Hays score with 21 points in the first half to take a 14-point lead.
Justin Stonebraker hit Mike Jones on a 16-yards touchdown pass to give South a 7-6 lead, and Jones would add 12-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
Mike Shirk added a pair of short touchdown runs in the second half as Salina South solidified their hold on the No. 2 spot in Class 5A.

Shawnee Mission West beat rival Shawnee Mission East 31-14 after taking advantage of a key Lancer turnover.
East quarterback Jordan Darling tied the game at 14 with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Billy Sutherland mid-way through the third quarter.
The Vikings outstanding running back Bret Sterbach broke the tie with a 1-yard touchdown run with 9:30 left in the game.
SM West intercepted Darling on the next drive, and one play later A.J. Verdini hit Andre Maloney on a 55-yard strike to put the Vikings up 28-14.
Joey Reed would add a 22-yard field goal with under four minutes remaining as the Vikings beat the Lancers for the sixth time out of the past seven meetings.

Class 4A’s top-ranked Holton Wildcats knocked off Topeka Hayden 27-0 in Holton on Friday night.
Holton dominated on the defensive side of the ball, holding Hayden to less than 100 yards of total offense.
Drake Ewing rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns for the Wildcats who led just 7-0 at halftime.
Ewing and Chase Wilson each scored touchdowns in the fourth quarter as Holton pulled away. Wilson added 82 yards and two scores on just six carries.

Another classic battle in the Baileyville B&B and Hanover rivalry took place at Hanover on Friday night.
Top-ranked Baileyville B&B rallied from down 38-22 in the third quarter to force overtime with the Wildcats tied at 38.
After the first overtime the Falcons and Wildcats were tied at 46, but B&B scored in the second overtime and held Hanover out for the 52-46 win.
The Falcons scored 30 points in the fourth quarter and overtimes to remain unbeaten.

In perhaps the upset of the night, Central Plains shocked Solomon 56-52.
The Oilers and Gorillas were tied at 36 at halftime before Central Plains took a 42-36 lead after three quarters.
Central Plains scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to hold on for the four-point win.
Solomon entered the game as the fifth-ranked team in 8-Man, Division-I, and had beaten each of their first seven opponents by the 45-point rule.
Central Plains moved to 4-4 with the win.

Three other 8-man teams entered tonight unbeaten, and all three left with their first loss.
Central Burden lost for the first time this season 24-20 at Udall.
Marais des Cygnes Valley handed St. Paul its first loss with a 52-40 shootout win.
Finally in a match-up of unbeatens, No. 2 Sharon Springs-Wallace County had no trouble with Weskan as the Wildcats beat the Coyotes 56-0 to claim the District 6 title in Division-II.
