Shrine Bowl East Roster Profiles

The following players were selected to represent the East in the 39th annual Kansas Shrine Bowl to be played Saturday, July 28th, 2012. This year's game will be held at Welch Stadium on the campus of Emporia State University, in Emporia, Kansas.

East Roster

Broc Bennett (6-2, 250) OL/DL, Pittsburg (5A) Bennett was the anchor for the Purple Dragon offensive and defensive lines last fall. A first-team All-SEK League selection, Bennett helped Pittsburg High to a 6-3 finish including a stunning 45-35 win at 5A runner-up Blue Valley in district play. Bennett was named a first-team All Class 5A offensive lineman by the Topeka Capital Journal, and received honorable mention All 5A honors from the Wichita Eagle. Despite missing the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season, the Purple Dragons registered their best season since 2008 under the direction of first-year coach Tom Nickelson.

Jayden Bowen (6-2, 220) OL/LB, Colony Crest (8M-I) A three-time all Three Rivers League selection, Bowen was a unanimous pick at center and linebacker this season. He recorded 78 tackles and four sacks despite missing the first five games of the season due to illness. Jayden tallied 257 career tackles with 16 sacks in helping the Lancers to a 26-13 record. He was named to the Kpreps Class 8 Man-I All-State team as an offensive lineman, and is a two-time Kpreps All-District honoree. He also received honorable mention all-state recognition as a lineman by both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle.

Anthony Buffalomeat (6-2, 180) WR/P, Lawrence (6A) Buffalomeat received honorable mention all-state honors from both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle. He caught 49 passes for 609 yards and five touchdowns last season in earning All Sunflower League honors. Anthony also averaged more than 41 yards per punt. He will continue his career as a wide receiver and punter at Emporia State University.

Zach Callahan (6-4, 290) DL, Mill Valley (5A) A Kpreps Class 5A All-State selection as a defensive lineman, Callahan recorded 62 tackles, three sacks, and a pass deflection in leading the Jaguars to a 7-3 record and a fourth consecutive playoff appearance. He is a two-time all Kaw Valley League selection on the defensive line, and was a first-team All Class 5A selection on the defensive line by both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle. Zach also received honorable mention recognition by the Kansas City Star's All-Metro team as a defensive lineman. Mill Valley produced a 28-13 record over the past four seasons. Zach signed to continue his career at Northwest Missouri State.

Jared Douglas (5-11, 230) DE, Olathe South (6A) Douglass was a first-team all-state selection by the Kansas Football Coaches Association. He helped the Falcons to claim the 6A state title last fall. Douglas plans to continue his football career at William Jewell College.

Daniel Durbin (6-5, 290) OL/DL, Fort Scott (4A) Durbin was a key contributor to the resurgence of Fort Scott Tiger football under head coach Bob Campbell. At 6-5, and 290 pounds, Durbin helped pave the way for the Tiger split-back veer offense en route to an 8-2 record and a second straight playoff appearance. Also a standout basketball player, Durbin plans to continue his career on the court at Fort Scott Community College this fall.

Alex Forslund (6-0, 185) QB/LB, Shawnee Mission South (6A) Forslund earned second team All Sunflower League honors as a linebacker after recording 89 tackles for the Raiders last fall. He also rushed for more than 400 yards as a quarterback. Forslund also participated in the Kansas-Missouri All-Star game played last month.

Garrett Fugate (6-3, 185) QB, Blue Valley Northwest (6A) A Kpreps 6A All-State selection at quarterback, Fugate completed 61 percent of his passes for 2,032 yards and 22 touchdowns against only three interceptions. Also a talented runner with good speed, Garrett rushed for 463 yards and seven touchdowns this season. As a two-year starter at Blue Valley Northwest, Fugate amassed 3,343 yards through the air and 985 yards rushing. He led the Huskies to a 49-34 district win over eventual 6A champion Olathe South by throwing four touchdown passes and rushing for two more scores. Fugate received honorable mention all-state recognition from the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle. He has signed to play quarterback at the University of Central Missouri.

Justin Fulks (5-11, 185) RB, Blue Valley (5A) A two-time Kpreps 5A All-State selection at running back, Fulks finished his career with more than 5,100 yards of offense and 51 touchdowns. This season, Justin rushed for 1,878 yards and 21 touchdowns despite missing a portion of three games due to injury. He also caught 22 passes for 315 yards and four scores and was named the Kpreps Class 5A Offensive Player of the Year. A three-year starter at running back for the Tigers, Fulks earned Eastern Kansas League honors all three seasons. As a junior in 2010, Fulks rushed for 1,779 yards and 15 touchdowns and caught 21 passes for 294 yards and four touchdowns in leading the Tigers to the 5A state title. Justin was named a Top 22 performer by both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle. He is a two-time All-5A running back as named by the Wichita Eagle, and also received first-team recognition at running back this season by the Topeka Capital Journal. He was named to the Kansas City Star's 2011 All-Metro team as a running back, and was named a finalist for the Dylan Meier – Get Busy Livin' Player of the Year Award through Kpreps.com. Fulks signed to play collegiately at Division II power Northwest Missouri State.

Derek Gifford (5-10, 185) RB, Emporia (5A) Gifford was named a first-team All Class 5A selection at running back by the Topeka Capital Journal, and received honorable mention recognition by the Wichita Eagle. He rushed for 1,675 yards and 22 touchdowns this season in leading the Spartans to the 5A quarterfinals. Derek also received first-team All Centennial League honors at running back. He will continue his football career at Emporia State this fall.

Michael Glatczak (6-0, 175) QB, Centralia (2-1A) A two-time Kpreps All-State selection at quarterback, Glatczak did most of his damage this season on the ground. He averaged 14 yards per carry in totaling 1,849 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns in earning the Kpreps Class 2-1A Offensive Player of the Year Award. For his career, Michael came within 32 receiving yards of eclipsing the 1,000-yard mark rushing, passing, and receiving. He was an all-state receiver during Centralia's run to the 2009 2-1A state championship before moving under center in 2010. Glatczak finished his career with 3,382 rushing yards, 1,328 yards passing, and 968 receiving yards with 84 total touchdowns. Most importantly, he helped Centralia win two 2-1A state titles in 2009 and 2011. Glatczak was named a Top 11 performer by the Topeka Capital Journal, and a Top 22 performer by the Wichita Eagle. He received 2-1A all-state honors in each of the last three seasons as either a receiver, defensive back, or quarterback by those publications. Glatczak will continue his career at Butler County Community College.

Brandon Goodman (6-0, 205) LB, Paola (4A) A Kpreps 4A All-State selection at linebacker, Goodman finished his career as Paola's all-time leading tackler. He finished 154 tackles, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery this season in helping the Panthers to an 11-2 record and a third consecutive state semifinal appearance. Brandon was recently named to the Kansas City Star's All-Metro second team as a linebacker, and was also a finalist for the Bobby Bell Award recognizing the top defensive player in the Kansas City Metro area. He was a first-team All Class 4A selection at linebacker by both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle in addition to receiving All-Frontier League honors. Goodman will continue his football career at Emporia State University.

Zach Gougler (6-4, 240) TE/LB, Galena (3A) Gougler is a big, physical tight end, linebacker, and talented punter who helped the Bulldogs to a 35-10 record over the last four seasons. Zach was named a Kpreps All-State at linebacker after recording 83 tackles and three sacks this season as Galena reached the 3A quarterfinals. Gougler finished his career with 303 tackles, nine sacks, and three interceptions. He hauled in 33 receptions for 719 yards and seven touchdowns in two years as a tight end, and scored three rushing touchdowns. As a punter, Zach averaged 41 yards on 45 career punts, including a 44.8 average this past season. Gougler was named to the Topeka Capital Journal 3A All-State team as a linebacker. He also received honorable mention recognition at tight end from the Wichita Eagle. In addition, Gougler received first-team All-CNC League recognition at tight end and linebacker. Zach signed to continue his football career at Fort Scott Community College.

Cody Heiman (6-3, 230) LB, Baileyville B&B (8M-II) A two-time Kpreps 8 Man-II All-State selection at linebacker, Heiman registered 81 tackles and three interceptions this season as the Falcons reached the state championship game for the fourth consecutive season. Heiman led an injury-bitten B&B team with 1,131 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, and finished with more than 2,200 career yards rushing and 32 scores. In the Falcons' championship game loss to Thunder Ridge, Heiman rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown, had 96 yards receiving and a touchdown, and logged 17 tackles. He finished with 269 career tackles for the Falcons, and was named an all-state linebacker by both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle. Cody was also named the Kpreps 8 Man-II Defensive Player of the Year. Heiman will continue his football career at Washburn this fall.

Tyson Holmes (6-4, 230) OL/DL, Shawnee Heights (5A) Holmes was a first-team All Class 5A selection on the defensive line by the Topeka Capital Journal, and received honorable mention recognition by the Wichita Eagle. He finished with 57 tackles and four sacks in helping Shawnee Heights to the second round of the 5A playoffs. Holmes was a three-year starter for the Thunderbirds, and received All-Centennial League honors on the offensive line this season while being named second-team all league on the defensive line. Holmes will participate in track and field at Wichita State University.

Tyus Jacob (6-3, 200) WR, Topeka High (6A) Jacob was named an honorable mention 6A all-state wide receiver by the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle. Tyus was also a second-team All Centennial League selection his senior season. He will continue his football career at Butler County Community College this fall.

Ivory Kelly (6-2, 190) WR, Parsons (4A) Kelly was part of a talented group of seniors that turned Parsons football around throughout their four-year career. The Vikings went 4-5 in 2010 and snapped a 21-game losing streak. Last fall, Parsons finished the regular season 7-2 before falling 41-13 to Columbus in the first round of the 4A playoffs. Kelly was named an honorable mention 4A all-state selection at wide receiver / tight end by the Topeka Capital Journal. He also received first-team All SEK League honors as a tight end and defensive end. He plans to continue his career at Butler County Community College this fall.

Austin Mendenhall (6-3, 265) OL, Neodesha (3A) A first-team all Tri-Valley League selection on the offensive line, Mendenhall helped the Blue Streaks to an 8-2 record and a second consecutive playoff berth this season. Neodesha finished 15-6 over the past two seasons. Mendenhall was also named an honorable mention 3A all-state lineman by the Wichita Eagle. He will continue his football career at Hutchinson Community College.

Connor Middleton (5-9, 175) RB/DB, Olathe Northwest (6A) Middleton earned All-Sunflower League honors at running back after rushing for 1,275 yards and 21 touchdowns in leading the Ravens to the playoffs for the first time since 2009. Connor also had more than 200 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. On defense, Middleton registered 97 tackles on the season. He was named honorable mention all-state by both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle. Middleton plans to continue his football career and wrestle at Baker University.

Timmy Miller (5-7, 135) RB/DB, Riverside (2-1A) Miller was the primary ball carrier for the newly formed Riverside Cyclones in their run to the 2-1A quarterfinals. The senior back rushed for 1,312 yards and 21 touchdowns while catching 13 balls for 227 yards and three more scores. On defense, Miller recorded 86 tackles, a sack, and forced three fumbles recovering two. As a junior in 2010, Miller rushed for 894 yards and 12 scores for Wathena. For his career, Miller rushed 346 times for 2,297 yards and 33 touchdowns. Timmy earned Kpreps 2-1A All-State recognition as a kick returner where he averaged 21.5 yards per punt return and 22.6 yards per kickoff return. Miller was also named an all-state return specialist by the Topeka Capital Journal, and received honorable mention recognition at running back from the Wichita Eagle. Miller plans to play at Highland Community College this fall.

Logan Miner (5-11, 150) RB, Rock Creek (3A) Miner helped Rock Creek to a 9-4 record and a state semifinal appearance where the Mustangs fell 14-13 to Silver Lake. The senior rushed for 1,207 yards and 18 touchdowns on the season. Miner received honorable mention recognition at running back by the Topeka Capital Journal in 2010 and 2011. He was honorable mention all-state by the Wichita Eagle this season. Miner plans to walk-on at Kansas State University this fall.

Logan O'Dea (6-0, 235) OL/DL/LB Wellsville (3A) O'Dea was named the Kpreps 3A Defensive Player of the Year and received Kpreps 3A All-State selection on the defensive line. He registered 137 tackles, five sacks, and forced four fumbles while also seeing time at linebacker. O'Dea also played a key role in an offensive line that led the way for consecutive 3,000-yard rushing seasons for the Eagle offense. As a junior in 2010, Logan recorded 84 tackles and recovered three fumbles. He was named a Top 33 performer by the Topeka Capital Journal in addition to being named to their 3A all-state team as an offensive lineman. He also received first-team 3A recognition on the defensive line by the Wichita Eagle. O'Dea plans to walk-on at Kansas State University this fall.

Callaway Schmidt (6-2, 175) WR/LB, Lawrence Free State (6A) Schmidt tied for the Sunflower League lead with five interceptions from his linebacker position last fall. He was an honorable mention All-Sunflower League selection for the Firebirds. On offense, Schmidt made the switch from quarterback to wide receiver for his senior season.

Quinton Schooley (6-4, 260) OL/LB, Chanute (4A) A Kpreps 4A All-State selection on the offensive line, Schooley helped lead the Blue Comets to an 8-4 record and a trip to the state quarterfinals. He was named a first-team All Class 4A selection on the offensive line by both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle. Schooley is also a two-time All SEK-League selection on the offensive line, and received defensive honors at linebacker this season as well. Schooley has signed to continue his football career at Butler County Community College this fall.

Greg Snell (6-3, 240) OL/DL, Eudora (4A) A Kpreps 4A All-State selection on the offensive line, Snell helped the Cardinals reach their first-ever state championship game in football where they fell to Rose Hill. Snell helped pave the way for a Cardinal offense that averaged 295 yards rushing per game, and produced three 1,000-yard rushers on the season. On defense, he recorded 19 tackles and three sacks. Greg was named to the second team All-Metro as an offensive lineman by the Kansas City Star, and was a first-team All Class 4A selection on the offensive line by both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle. Snell will play football at Baker University this fall.

Tanner Staats (5-9, 160) RB, Paola (4A) Staats received honorable mention all-state honors at running back by both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle. He also was named an honorable mention all-state defensive back by the Wichita Eagle. Staats rushed for 1,482 yards last fall on just 144 carries; an average of 10.5 yards per carry. He helped the Panthers reach the 4A state semifinals in each of the last three seasons. He was a two-time All Frontier League selection at running back. Staats was also a standout wrestler and baseball player, but will continue his career playing football at Ottawa University this fall.

Gage Steckel (5-11, 200) RB/LB, Rossville (3A) Steckel was named a first-team 3A All-State linebacker by both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle. He recorded 38 tackles including an interception for the Bulldogs this season, and finished with more than 100 tackles, four interceptions, and three sacks for his career. Steckel rushed for 763 yards and eight touchdowns this fall, and more than 1,100 yards and 13 touchdowns in his career. He earned first-team all Mid-East League honors at linebacker, and was named honorable mention all league at running back.

Austin Veach (6-3, 230) OL/DL, Doniphan West (2-1A) Veach was named a Kpreps 2-1A All-State selection on the defensive line after recording more than 90 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, six sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and blocking a kick. He helped lead the Mustangs to a 9-2 season and a spot in the state quarterfinals despite having less than 20 players on the roster. On offense, Austin helped lead the Mustangs to more than 2,000 yards rushing on the season, and protected quarterback Tristan Speer allowing the freshman to throw for more than 1,300 yards and 15 touchdowns. Veach was named an all-state defensive lineman by both the Topeka Capital Journal, and the Wichita Eagle. He also become the first state-champion wrestler in Doniphan West school history this season, finishing with a record of 23-2.

Nick Walsh (5-11, 190) RB/LB/P, Lyndon (2-1A) Walsh earned Kpreps 2-1A All-State honors at running back after rushing for 1,330 yards and 21 touchdowns this season. On defense, Nick tallied 68 tackles and carried a 38 yard average on 19 punts. Walsh was named the Kpreps 2-1A All-State punter in 2010. For his career, Walsh rushed for 3,246 yards and 48 touchdowns while registering 270 tackles. Nick is also a two-time Kpreps All-District selection. He was named an to the Wichita Eagle all-state team as a kicker, and was an all-state running back on the Topeka Capital Journal team. Walsh plans to walk-on at Kansas State University this fall.

Marcus Williams (6-2, 210) LB/DE, Gardner-Edgerton (5A) A two-year starter for the Trailblazers, Williams received honorable mention Class 5A recognition on defense by the Topeka Capital Journal, and the Wichita Eagle. This season, Williams recorded 82 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, three sacks, and deflected four passes. He also wreaked havoc on special teams, blocking six kicks and a punt. The Trailblazers finished 8-4 and reached the 5A semifinals for the second consecutive season.

Michael Williams (5-11, 175) DB, Olathe East (6A) "Junior" was named a Kpreps 6A All-State defensive back after recording 66 tackles, seven interceptions, an forcing a fumble. He helped led the Hawks to a 9-3 record and a spot in the 6A semifinals. Williams registered three of his picks going against 6-10 Olathe Northwest wide receiver Willie Cauley. Junior was chosen as a first-team All Class 6A selection at defensive back by the Topeka Capital Journal, and received honorable mention honors from the Wichita Eagle. He was also an All-Sunflower League performer. Junior has signed to play his college ball at Coffeyville Community College.

Thomas Wittman (6-2, 200) OL/DL, Topeka Hayden (4A) Whittman is a Kpreps 4A All-State selection on the defensive line thanks to a motor that doesn't stop. He finished this season with 48 tackles and six sacks in helping Hayden to the 4A semifinals where they fell to eventual champion Rose Hill. Whittman was a first-team All Class 4A selection on the defensive line by both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle. He also earned All-Centennial League honors on the defensive line in each of the past two seasons. He plans to continue his football career at Hutchinson Community College.

Peter Gallo (6-2, 270) OL, Blue Valley North (6A) A talented offensive guard, Gallo received honorable mention all-state recognition by both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle. Gallo was also received honorable mention All-Metro recognition from the Kansas City Star in addition to all league honors. Peter also received second team All Eastern Kansas League honors on the offensive line as a junior in 2010. Gallo committed to play his college football at the University of Kansas.

Scott Gourley (6-4, 260) OL/DL, Olathe South (6A) Gourley was named a Kpreps 6A All-State offensive lineman and 6A Offensive Player of the Year after leading the Falcons ground attack to more than 4,000 yards en route to the 2011 6A state title. Gourley was a three-year starter for Olathe South at center, and a two-time All-Sunflower League performer. Scott was also selected as a Top 11 performer by both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle, and earned 6A all-state honors in each of those publications. Scott was named to the Kansas City Star's 2011 All-Metro team on the offensive line. He will continue his playing career at Air Force.

Garrett Griffin (6-4, 210) RB/LB, Louisburg (4A) Griffin is a two-time Kpreps All-State selection at running back, and the Kpreps 4A Offensive Player of the Year, he rushed for a school-record 2,135 yards as a senior and scored 23 touchdowns. His top games included a 323-yard performance against Spring Hill, and a 37-carry, 295-yard, four-touchdown game in a 27-20 win over Fort Scott in the first round of the 4A playoffs. For his career, Garrett rushed for more than 4,600 yards and scored 65 touchdowns. He was also a standout linebacker for the Wildcats, finishing his career with more than 250 career tackles. He helped Louisburg to the school's first state football title in 2010. Garrett is also a two-time state champion in the javelin. Griffin was also recently named to the Kansas City Star's All-Metro second team as a running back, and named a Top 11 performer by the Topeka Capital Journal and Wichita Eagle. He will continue his playing career collegiately at Air Force.

Colin Murphy (6-6, 205) QB, Basehor-Linwood (4A) A Kpreps 4A All-State selection at quarterback, Murphy accounted for more than 3,000 yards of total offense and 36 touchdowns this season. He completed 63 percent of his passes for 2,609 yards and 23 touchdowns, while rushing for 420 yards and 13 scores. For his career, Murphy completed 60 percent of his passes for 4,856 yards and 47 touchdowns. He rushed for 746 yards and 21 touchdowns in his career, and had nearly 600 yards and nine touchdowns receiving. Murphy was named the first-team All Class 4A quarterback by the Topeka Capital Journal, and received honorable mention all-state recognition by the Wichita Eagle. Murphy has signed to play basketball at Emporia State University.

Mason Perez (6-2, 180) WR/DB/Ret, SM North (6A) A Kpreps All-State selection as a kick returner, Perez returned three kickoffs and a punt for touchdowns this season. Mason also was a standout wide receiver for the Indians, catching 24 passes for 607 yards and 12 touchdowns. Perez received honorable mention recognition by the Kansas City Star's All-Metro team as at wide receiver, and was a first-team All Class 6A selection as a return specialist by the Topeka Capital Journal. Mason also registered 56 tackles and an interception as a defensive back after picking off six passes in 2010. Perez will continue his career at Highland Community College this fall.

Rob Riederer (6-1, 205) RB/LB/DB, Holton (4A) A Kpreps 4A All-State selection at linebacker, Riederer totaled 121 tackles in the Wildcats' 10 games. He was also a first-team All Class 4A selection at linebacker by both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle. Riederer also rushed for 650 yards and six touchdowns on the season for a balanced Holton ground attack. He has signed to play at the University of Tulsa this fall.

Thomas Shamet (6-3, 220) OL/DE, Bishop Miege (5A) Shamet was named to the second team All-Metro as an offensive lineman by the Kansas City Star, and earned honorable mention Class 5A honors on the offensive line by both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle. He helped the Stags to a 9-2 record with both losses coming to 5A runner-up Blue Valley. Shamet plans to walk-on at the University of Tulsa this fall.

Jerrik Sigg (6-0, 180) RB/DB/Ret, Iola (4A) Sigg shined for a Mustang team that finished just 2-7 on the season. The senior running back is a two-time, first-team All SEK League selection at running back, and scored a league-leading 170 points thanks to 26 touchdowns this fall. Sigg was selected as the 4A All-State return specialist by the Topeka Capital Journal, an received honorable mention all-state honors from the Wichita Eagle. Sigg has signed to play baseball at Allen County Community College.

Christian Smith (5-11, 185) RB/LB, St. Mary's Colgan (2-1A) Smith is a two-time Kpreps 2-1A All-State selection at running back after rushing for more than 3,000 yards and 46 touchdowns in his career. This season, Smith rushed for 1,395 yards and 25 touchdowns while averaging nearly 13 yards per carry and a touchdown every fourth time he touched the ball. Also a dynamic return specialist and linebacker, Christian and his twin-brother Zach were four-year starters at St. Mary's Colgan each logging more than 300 tackles. Smith was named a Top 22 performer by the Wichita Eagle, and a Top 33 performer by the Topeka Capital Journal. He was named a 2-1A all-state running back by both publications this season. Christian competed in the inaugural Blue-Grey National All-Star Classic at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa (Fla.) on January 14th. Christian, along with his brother Zach, has signed to play football at Princeton.

Jeddy Tuiloma (6-1, 300) OL/DL, Washburn Rural (6A) In addition to being a Kpreps 6A All-State selection on the offensive line, Tuiloma also received first-team All Class 6A honors from both the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle despite suffering a season-ending injury early in Rural's Week 8 game against Manhattan. He may not be released by doctors in time to play in the Shrine Bowl. Jeddy was also two-time All-Centennial League pick at defensive line, and received first team all league honors on offense this season as well.

Coaches:

Steve Buhler, Rossville (3A) – Buhler enters his 14th season at Rossville having posted a 109-52 record.

Todd Dain, Olathe Northwest (6A) – Dain enters ninth year with the Ravens. During his time at Olathe Northwest, he has posted a 26-51 record. He has coached a total of 12 years and has an overall record of 46-71.

Jason Swift, Shawnee Heights (5A) – Swift's T-Birds finished as District Champions in 2011 and finished with a 5-6 record. Swift is entering his 10th year at Shawnee Heights and has compiled a record of 45-47.

Mike Dumpert, Paola (4A) - Dumpert has been at Paola for 15 years compiling a 117-46 record. He has led the Panthers to the 4A state semifinals the past three seasons.

Mike Beam, Rock Creek (3A) – Beam has been at Rock Creek for 21 years compiling a 123-81 record. He has coached for 26 years and has an overall record of 146-91.

Scot Koranda, Riverside (2-1A) – Koranda took charge of the newly formed Riverside High School last season and led the Cyclones to a 9-2 record and a trip to the Class 2-1A quarterfinals. Prior to being named the head coach of Riverside, Koranda was the head man at Wathena where he led the Wildcats to a 14-13 record in three seasons.
