In our Picks to Click, we feature six players or units from across the state that we feel will have breakout performances on Friday night. Check back next Thursday to see our picks for week four, and how the players performed that we picked this week.
Isaiah Ming, RB, KC Harmon
The Harmon Hawks are off to a 2-0 start with wins over KC Washington and Sumner Academy. Ming has been a big part of that early season success. The 5-8, 200-pound senior rushed 25 times for 144 yards and four touchdowns in the win over Washington, and last week added 160 yards and a touchdown rushing and receiving as the Hawks beat the Sabres for the first time since 2005. On Friday, Harmon travels to Topeka Highland Park to face a Scots defense that has already surrendered 96 points this season.
Bo Savage (QB) & Ky Biddle (RB/WR), Central Burden
Savage & Biddle's 8-man version of the "greatest show on turf" continues to rack up yards and points. Savage completed 14 of 17 passes for 194 yards and four touchdowns last week against Caldwell while Biddle racked up 128 of those yards and three TDs receiving. Facing a Wilson team that allowed 103 points in a week one opener could be big for this explosive duo.
Trent Stucky, QB, Sedgwick
Stucky has been the definition of a dual-threat quarterback during his time at Sedgwick. As a junior in 2010, he threw for 1,758 yards and 22 touchdowns and ran for another 1,075 yards and 14 more scores. He’s began his senior season in similar style. Stucky threw two touchdown passes and ran for the winning two-point conversion in a 22-21 overtime road win over Hoisington in week one. He followed that up by completing 10 of 13 attempts for 187 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for a fifth score in last week’s 38-0 weather-shortened win over Bennington. Stucky and the Cardinals travel to Heart of America League rival Moundridge on Friday.
Tayler Stull, QB, LaCrosse
In two games against outmatched competition Stull has completed 6 of 8 passes for 230 yards with 5 touchdowns and no interceptions. He has also picked up 167 rushing yards and three touchdowns on only 10 carries. Decatur County will be the best team the Leopards have played thus far but Stull, a senior, is showing no signs of letting up in his third year as the starting signal caller.
Malik Veal, RB, Salina Central
Salina Central's sophomore running back Malik Veal appears poised for an epic season rushing for more than 200 yards in his first two games against Derby and Andover Central and a Friday trip to play the Campus Colts shouldn't derail Veal.
Traevohn Wrench, RB, Gardner-Edgerton
Wrench (6-0, 180) broke open in a big way in his first EKL game last week. The sophomore rushed 31 times for 345 yards and five touchdowns as the Trailblazers rolled past Blue Valley North, 54-20. In a Week 1 loss to East St. Louis (IL), Wrench scored two touchdowns to go along with his 122 yards on 18 carries. He’ll need another big game this week as the Blazers host fifth-ranked Bishop Miege.

Beloit’s defense – The Trojan offense kept Ellsworth off the field, and the Beloit defense limited the Bearcats to just 31 total offensive plays in a 46-14 win.
Kyle Hammond, RB, Colony Crest – Hammond carried 16 times for 292 yards and six touchdowns as the Lancers’ ended their game with Altoona-Midway at halftime with a 60-12 win.
Zach Oberle, QB & Cole Brady, RB, Chase – Oberle carried six times for 144 yards and two touchdowns and Brady added 18 carries for 116 yards and three scores as Chase routed Tescott, 64-36. Brady also returned two interceptions for touchdowns of 25 and 55 yards.
Riverton’s Defense – The Rambler defense forced two turnovers and a safety in a 30-14 win at Erie.
Damon Schurr, RB, Osborne – Schurr rushed for 273 yards and five touchdowns on 20 carries as the Bulldogs overcame a 14-0 first quarter deficit to outscore Mankato-Rock Hills, 56-34. Shurr also contributed eight tackles and a sack on the defensive side of the ball.
Dayton Walter, QB/LB, Lincoln – Walter completed 10 of 17 passes for 147 yards and five touchdowns as the Leopards outgunned Sylvan-Lucas Unified, 74-42. Walter also added 116 yards rushing on 12 carries for Lincoln.
