The 2011 issue of the Kansas Pregame Football Magazine is off the press and distribution is underway, and publisher John Baetz says the sixth annual issue is one fans of Kansas high school and college football will want to get their hands on.

"Our goal at Kansas Pregame is to provide the most complete and accurate look at as many of the state's high school and college football teams as possible," Baetz said. "This year's magazine is a few pages shorter, but I honestly think it's the best one yet."

Distribution began the last week of July and the free magazine is available at hundreds of advertiser locations across Kansas.

"One of the best things about Kansas Pregame is that it remains free for the players, coaches and fans thanks to the advertisers who sponsor the teams," Baetz said.

Featured on the cover this year are the 8 Wonders of Kansas Football, the top eight - 10 actually with twins and a father-son duo - high school players and coaches from across the state of Kansas.

In 2007, the Kansas Sampler Foundation set out to identify the 8 Wonders of Kansas. Not just the overall 8 Wonders, but the 8 Wonders of architecture, art, commerce, cuisine, customs, geography, history and people. Twenty-four finalists were chosen in each category and over 100,000 people voted in the contest, which concluded in October of 2010.

"The contest inspired us here at Kansas Pregame and we chose our own 8 Wonders of Kansas High School Football for the 2011 season," Baetz said.

Each "wonder" is one of the top players or coaches in their respective classification and they are paired with one of the 8 Wonders, or finalists, as chosen in the Kansas Sampler Foundation's contest.

In late May, the players and coaches gathered at Coronado Heights, just northwest of Lindsborg, one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas Geography, for the second annual cover shoot.

"Coronado Heights offers one of the most beautiful views in all of Kansas, and a great day generated the stunning cover photograph taken by talented photographer Dena Sorensen," Baetz added.

8 Wonders of Kansas Football feature articles follow each of the class overviews inside Kansas Pregame. For more on the 8 Wonders of Kansas visit www.8wonders.org or check out their recently released "8 Wonders of Kansas Guidebook." The 272 page Guidebook, written by Kansas Sampler Foundation director Marci Penner, and photographed by Harland Schuster, is a shining presentation of all that is Kansas.
