Highly successful Baileyville B&B football coach Steve Tiernan has resigned as the Falcons head coach.
Tiernan led the Falcons to an 89-15 record in nine seasons and state titles in 2008 and 2010. The Falcons were also State Runners-up in 2003, '04 and '09.
Tiernan, a Tipton native, has been offered a contract to teach and coach in the Osborne school district where he will be the new coach for the Osborne Bulldogs.
According to Osborne Superintendent Keith Hall, coach Cullen Riner has resigned his teaching and coaching position to take a job in the private sector.
Tiernan was unavailable for comment Wednesday.
Osborne enjoyed a breakout season in 2010 finishing 10-2 in their first season of 8-Man football.
In 2010, Riner's fifth season with the Bulldogs, he led the the team to a district championship and a 48-24 semi-final loss at the hands of Hill City, a team the Bulldogs beat in week five of the season, 50-38.
In the second round of the playoffs Osborne defeated unanimously top-ranked Pretty Prairie, 50-40.
This was Riner's first winning season as the head coach at Osborne, but the team improved consistently in each of Riner's five seasons going 0-9, 2-8, 3-6 and 3-6 before last year's 7 win improvement in year one at the 8-Man, Division I level.
