Breakdown of Rankings by Classification:
6A
Defending 6A state champion, Blue Valley Northwest, remains the number one team in this classification. Five Sunflower League teams are in this week's top ten: SM Northwest (2), Lawrence (5), SM South (6), Olathe South (7), and SM East (9).
5A
Lansing remains a perfect 20-0 at the top spot. The Lions have three players averaging in double figures in Joe Schneider (15.8), Zack Jackson (15.2) & Khalil Bailey (12.7).
4A-I
McPherson (18-1), who is one of the greatest programs in Kansas history, remains at the top spot of this brand new division. Head Coach, Kurt Kinnamon, picked up his 400th career victory at Mac last week. #5 Independence is playing like the hottest team in the state and hasn't lost in over 40 days. The Chanute substate features three ranked teams in Indy, Coffeyville (6) and Labette County (7) with one spot to go to state.
4A-II
Andale (17-2) is undefeated against 4A-II competition on the year and remains at the top spot in 4A-II. Three-time Defending 3A state champion, Scott City (17-3), is going for it's fourth state title, but will have to do so in this larger enrolled classification.
3A
Four teams remain undefeated and ranked in this classification in Hesston (1), Eureka (2), Sabetha (3) and Council Grove (4). Beloit, behind the play of Payton Vetter (19 ppg), is ranked fifth and only has one loss on the year.
2A
St. John (20-0), who won 1A-I last season, seems to be the team everyone is talking about. The Tigers are winning every contest by an average of 33.2 points per game. Look out for Colgan (15-4) at the eight spot, three of their losses came to larger opponents from the state of Missouri. The Panthers got a 10 point victory last week over 4A-I #7 Labette County.
1A-I
MDCV (20-0) remains the number one team once again in 1A-I boys. Three players average in double figures for the Trojans in Matt Jones (12.2), Mark Price (15.7) and Kaden Vanderpool (11.4. ). Jones (6'6) and Price (6'9) are two of the tallest players in the state.
1A-II
Beloit St. John's-Tipton (19-1) remains the number one team in 1A-II. Three players average in double figures for the Blu-jays in Trey Dubbert (12.4), Connor Eilert (10.8), and Luke Eilert (11.6).
