The top five remains the same in girls 6A rankings except for the top two spots switched positions. Defending 6A champion Wichita South, previously second, takes the top spot from Maize with a victory over them on Friday (51-49). Blue Valley (9) and SM South (10) crack into this week’s rankings, while Wichita Northwest and Olathe East dropped out of the top ten.
The only movement in this week’s top five was Topeka-Seaman at the fifth spot. Seaman, who plays in the Centennial League, has been winning by a margin of 22.4 points per game on the season. A key EKL match-up will take place this week on Tuesday between 5A #1 Aquinas and 6A #9 Blue Valley. Kapaun (2), Salina Central (3), and Leavenworth (4) all held on to their previous ranking to round out the top five. Valley Center (10) is the only new team to this week’s top ten.
Not a lot of movement in the top five of the week’s 4A-I poll. Wamego, Fort Scott, and Paola hold on to the top three spots. All-state sisters, Kaylee (17.2) and Lanie Page (14.2) lead #1 Wamego in scoring. Rounding out the top five is Independence (4), who moved up five spots, and Bishop Miege (5). Ottawa is the only new team to crack the top ten this week at the seven spot.
Top five of 4A-II has a little bit of movement from the two to four spots, but Santa Fe Trail stays at number one. Hugoton moves up four spots to number two to crack the top five and features three wins over out-of-state opponents. Burlington (3), Pratt (4), and Frontenac (5) round out the top five this week. Columbus (10) is the only new team this week that wasn’t ranked in the last release of rankings. Colby, previously fourth, drops out of rankings after going 2-3 before the holiday break.
Hesston, Riley County, and Cimarron all remain in the top three of this week’s 3A KBCA rankings. Dropping out of the top five this week was Caney Valley, who moved down six spots to number ten. Marysville cracks the top five this week by moving up one spot to fifth. A lot of movement overall to the top 10 this week with newly ranked top 10 teams Douglass (6), Council Grove (7), Cherryvale (8) and Erie (9).
Hillsboro remains at the top spot in 2A girls, while the biggest surprise is Smith Center dropping out of the rankings entirely. Smith Center, the defending state champion, was previously ranked second. Jeff County North, who features all-stater Jacee Kramer, moves up a spot to rank second. JCN is beating opponents by a margin of 37.8 points per game on the season. Olpe, previously sixth, moves back into the top five at number five.
Defending state champion Hoxie remains at the top spot in 1A-I girls. The top five remain the same teams, but a little bit of movement: Valley Heights (3 to 2), Spearville (2 to 3), Osborne (5 to 4), and St. Paul (4 to 5) remain in the top five. MDCV (8) and Thunder Ridge (10) are the two new teams to this week’s rankings.
A little bit of movement in this classification as previously top ranked Ingalls moves down five spots to the sixth spot. Ingalls would move down as they picked up two losses before holiday break. Norwich (5-0) moves up a spot to take over top position in 1A-II. B&B (2), Dighton (3), Triplains/Brewster (4) and Wilson (5) round out this week’s top five. Moscow is the only new team to crack this week’s rankings.
