In our Picks to Click, we feature several players or units from across the state that we feel will have breakout performances on Friday night.
This season, we’ve assembled a team of media members across the state to each select one player (or unit) each week. We will track the cumulative statistics of our selections throughout the season similar to fantasy scoring.

CamRon Fields, WR, KC Washington (Gilmore)
Fields (5-10, 170) is one of the top playmakers in all of Kansas. Coming off of an incredible junior season in which he had more than 2,100 total yards from scrimmage, expectations are high for big numbers again this fall. Graduation took all-state quarterback Savion Stone, but junior Benito Morrell has filled in nicely having passed for 577 yards and eight touchdowns in the first two weeks of the season. Fields has picked up where he left off in 2025 when he registered 63 receptions for 1,281 yards and 12 touchdowns. Through two weeks, CamRon has 11 catches for 312 yards and six touchdowns. Also a threat in the run and return game, Fields is closing in on 5,000 career all-purpose yards. He has 1,632 career rush yards, 2,242 career receiving yards, and 988 career return yards with 46 combined touchdowns. This week, Washington takes on rival Wyandotte in a Meadowlark League showdown.
Alvin Riley, RB, KC Washington (Clisso)
No, we didn’t coordinate the selection of two KC Washington players this week. But Alvin Riley (5-6, 195) has stepped up to take over as the leading rusher for the Wildcat offense. Through two weeks, Riley has carried 14 times for 156 yards and a touchdown. He’s averaging 11.1 yards per carry. Riley has also added a 20-yard completion from quarterback Benito Morrell. Along with CamRon Fields, Riley gives the Wildcats multiple playmakers on offense. KC Washington will take on KC Wyandotte this week.
Smith Center Offensive Line (Nicholl)
Smith Center is ranked No. 4 in Class 1A and is considered a significant state favorite and the Mid-Continent League frontrunner. The Redmen have averaged 44 points per game behind a veteran front. Last year, the Redmen were 11-1 and ninth in 1A averaging 34 points per contest. Smith Center is at rival Norton on Friday.
Smith Center’s front includes Dominick Kattenberg, Mikkel Frydendall, and Isaiah Haack. Kattenberg was first team all-league, while the other two were honorable mention. Smith Center has pulled away from Russell (54-22) and Phillipsburg (34-22) in the second halves of games and features one of the best lines in 1A.
Karsyn Wright, Ath, Weskan (Maycock)
No player in the state in any classification is off to a bigger start to the season than Wright, a two-time All-Six-Man first-team selection and the driving force behind Weskan's two straight trips to the state championship game. After rushing for 1,568 yards and 32 touchdowns last year, Wright is a third of the way to those numbers through just two games this year. After a huge performance in Weskan's 84-36 win over Satanta in which he ran for 331 yards and 7 TDs, Wright added 201 yards and 5 more TDs in last week's 65-18 win over Northern Valley. Weskan takes on fellow 2-0 Marais des Cygnes Valley at Chase High School this week.

Andale Offensive Line – The Andale OL paved the way for 277 yards rushing, 322 total yards, and nine offensive touchdowns in a 73-7 win over El Dorado. (Maycock – 27 pts)
Brooks Bayer, DE, Spring Hill – Bayer registered five tackles including three for loss in the Broncos’ 61-14 win over KC Turner. (Clisso – 10 pts)
Dalton Lingenfelter, RB, Marais des Cygnes Valley – Lingenfelter rushed nine times for 155 yards and three touchdowns in the Trojans’ 47-0 shutout of Altoona-Midway. He also added 35 receiving yards and a touchdown. (Gilmore – 42 pts)
Demitri Williamson, RB, Oswego – Williamson carried ten times for 260 yards and five touchdowns in the Indians’ 59-14 win over St. Paul. He also threw a 6-yard touchdown pass and had nine yards receiving. (Nicholl – 62 pts)

2026 Picks to Click
- The objective will be to have the most cumulative points over the course of the season.
- Participants may select a quarterback, running back, WR/TE, offensive line or a defensive player each week.
- Everyone must pick a WR/TE, offensive line and defensive player at least once.
- Points will be rewarded only for the player's offensive or defensive stats, depending on how you designate the player that week. For instance, if you pick a running back then you will not receive any of his points for defense.
Scoring system
QBs/RBs/WRs/TEs
- 1 point for every 10 yards passing, rushing or receiving from a quarterback, running back or wide receiver
- 6 points for every passing, rushing or receiving touchdown
Offensive line
- 1 point for every 50 yards gained as an offense
- 3 points for every offensive touchdown
Defensive player
- 2 points for every tackle
- 4 points for every INT, sack or fumble recovery
